The Firm’s business objective has been and continues to be a two-fold one involving a caring process of matching and follow-up.
First objective: The founding firm’s initial objective was to help highly specialized, high caliber individuals locate new and challenging work.
Secondly: It would assist businesses meet business objectives by identifying needed personnel and locating high caliber individuals interested in working with them.
Although there are two components to our business, both occur simultaneously during the matching process.
Component 1: The Job Opening (Job Order) RL Harmon Group's objective is to meticulously understand the needs of the hiring company, so that we can act as an extension of it and its human resource department. During this non-static process, as managers begin interviewing potential candidates for the open position, they reassess criteria they considered essential for the job and fine-tune the stated requirements.
During the hiring process, many different levels of managers become involved. The sensitive involvement of the RL Harmon Group’s representative can help mediate any rough territory that may evolve.
Component 2: The Candidate - Once a hiring company has met with and discussed the type of opening it has, RL Harmon Group begins its search. The search goes far beyond the "help-wanted" section of newspapers and job boards, employing an extensive network of contacts outside conventional HR avenues.
When speaking to the candidates, we learn about their needs and interests, which will influence their long term relationship with the hiring company. Issues discussed with the candidates can range from future growth opportunities, salary, chain of command issues, technology and engineering objectives, to schools for the children, good communities for homes, to referrals on moving vans, mortgage companies and shopping malls. When a candidate considers a job change, in some cases requiring relocation, the entire families' needs become an issue - not just the hiring company or the potential candidate.
When a job offer is imminent, the RL Harmon Group representative will assists with the salary negotiations. It is important to note that a third party can be of tremendous value in fielding issues generated by both sides during the negotiations. This is a fairly complex stage and in some cases the two sides do not come together as expected. Again, reasons have ranged from state of art technology issues, to "non-smoking" or "smoking" environments, to a lack of an immediate work position for a spouse, and more.
RL Harmon Group focuses on filling positions from the highly specialized individual or mid-level manager to the executive level.
Some people often find it amazing that a search for this level of candidate often requires from one to three months or more. The level of and type of these positions are fairly sophisticated. These personnel search assignments require significant time commitments to the process by the hiring company, candidate, and by the RL Harmon Group staff that brings the two together.
